Colonoscopy

When you require a Colonoscopy

A Colonoscopy is a screening procedure, used to detect Bowel Cancer. Most people referred for a Colonoscopy do not have cancer, however it’s important to have the procedure to be sure.

What you need to know

A Colonoscopy is used to screen for certain medical conditions like Bowel Cancer, and to remove Polyps before they become cancerous.

Your surgeon will look for abnormal tissue called Polyps and take a sample for further examination.

The procedure is quick, generally taking only 30 minutes.

Your doctor will explain how to prepare for your procedure.

You will feel drowsy afterwards, so it’s important to have someone pick you up.

Your surgeon will explain the procedure to you fully so you know exactly what to expect.
